Village of
Brockport. "Located in Western New York on the scenic Erie
Canal, Brockport has a great past and an even more promising future.
From our Main Street lined with quaint shops to the campus of State
University of New York at Brockport, our village is both inviting to
tourists and conducive to business."
- Brockport-Seymour Library. "Today the Seymour Library
continues a long tradition of providing information,
entertainment and education to the residents of Brockport,
Sweden and Clarkson. The commitment and support of the community
have made the new library possible, and the new library is
committed to serve the community, enriching the quality of life
today and into the foreseeable future."
- Drake Memorial Library. "In the beginning the library was a little collection of books housed in a room open only a few hours per week, and was largely used by faculty for reference purposes. It also included a textbook collection and the school's laboratory equipment. As teacher training education became more sophisticated, so did the library.
In 1961 the college opened the first building dedicated exclusively as a library, Drake Memorial Library. It was named after two unrelated college staff members, Bernard Drake and Ruth Drake. This new building would serve as the home of the library until 1974, when the library moved to it's current location on the south side of campus next to Allen. The old building, now named Rakov, serves as home to many of the school's enrollment and business offices."

- Brockport Fire
Department. "...Today the Brockport Fire Department
covers 92 square miles including the Village of Brockport, Town
of Sweden and Town of Clarkson. Equipment runs out of four
houses. Station One (fire headquarters on Market Street),
Station Two (Lake Road North, Town of Clarkson), Station Three
(West Avenue) and Station Four (S. Main Street). Station Two was
the first house in the department to be constructed outside the
village limits and was dedicated in 2000. The first Ladies
Auxiliary organized January 5, 1922, Fire Police Squad organized
in 1954 and Firematic Explorer Post 623 organized September 1973
have added greatly to our fire community. Without their
expertise in their individual fields, our fire department could
not run as smoothly as it does. We applaud all the men and women
who give so freely of their time and for their families who
share them with us..."
-
Brockport Historic Preservation Board. "In 1990 the
Village of Brockport adopted a preservation ordinance, similar
to those enacted in other municipalities across New York State.
Its purpose is to protect from destruction or insensitive
rehabilitation, buildings and neighborhoods in the Village which
have special historic, architectural and cultural character.
This ordinance created the Brockport Historic Preservation Board
(BHPB) with responsibilities to identify the Village's
significant historic and architectural resources, initiate the
designation process of Village landmarks and historic districts
and review applications for proposed exterior changes to
buildings that are Village landmarks or in Village historic
districts."

Brockport. "The Brockport Kiwanis Club is very active.
As a service organization, most of our activities involve some
form of community service, either working directly in the
community or raising money to support community functions and
meet specific needs. Most of our fund raising activities include
a community service component.
As we work to enhance the quality of life for specific
individuals in need, for our community as a whole and for
children around the world we have a lot of fun and good
fellowship. We enjoy the blessings of personal satisfaction and
sense of accomplishment that comes from helping our fellow man.
We realize that working together as a group we accomplish much
more than we would individually.
